Guest Biographies

    • Scott McGehee
    • Scott McGehee was born and raised in Orange County, California. He received a bachelor's degree in English from Columbia University, and went on to pursue graduate studies in Film Theory and Japanese Film History at UC Berkeley's Department of Rhetoric. He and David Siegel began making short films together in San Francisco in 1990. Since then, they have worked exclusively as a filmmaking team, co-directing The Deep End (01) and Bee Season (05). The Festival has screened their feature films Suture (94), Uncertainty (09), and What Maisie Knew (12).
    • David Siegel
    • David Siegel was born in Brooklyn, New York, but spent most of his youth in Southern California. He received a bachelor's degree in architecture at UC Berkeley before pursuing an MFA in photography and painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. He and Scott McGehee formed a writing-directing partnership in 1990. The Festival has screened their feature films Suture (94), Uncertainty (09), and What Maisie Knew (12). Their other films are The Deep End (01) and Bee Season (05).
