High school idiots and lifelong friends "Ted" Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) traverse the centuries in a time-travelling phone booth in this stone-cold slacker classic.
High school idiots and lifelong friends "Ted" Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) dream of rock-and-roll stardom in their band Wyld Stallyns, but first they have to keep from flunking their history exam or else Ted is destined for military school. Lucky for them (not so much us), it appears that the fate of the world depends on their enduring friendship, so the wise sage Rufus (comic legend George Carlin) is sent from the distant future in a time-travelling phone booth to help them pass the history exam, graduate, and bring eternal peace and tranquility to future generations through the power of their music. Figuring the best source of historical knowledge is the participants themselves, Bill and Ted traverse the centuries in the phone booth to collect such historical figures as Abraham Lincoln, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, Napoleon, and Socrates (pronounced "So-kreights"), and make it back in time for the ultimate show-and-tell. A slacker classic, B&TEA was a surprise runaway hit and featured the immortal debut of Reeves' trademark line (say it with us): "Whoa."
