About

Founded in 1989, Film Circuit, a division of TIFF, provides a transformative experience to filmgoers in under-served communities through access to Canadian and international films.
Through an alternate model of grassroots distribution, marketing and exhibition, Film Circuit, encompassing over 177 groups in over 165 communities across Canada, is helping TIFF lead the world in building markets and audience for Canadian cinema.
Recent Canadian films such as Incendies, Barney’s Version, Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie, Last Train Home, and Score: A Hockey Musical were among the top attended Film Circuit screenings in 2011. As well, Film Circuit groups screen a diverse mix of engaging international films, including Mao’s Last Dancer, An Education, Get Low and The Secret In Their Eyes. Not only does Film Circuit provide filmgoers an opportunity to see films that may not otherwise be available in their region, but also provides distributors with an opportunity to extend the theatrical run of their films.
More than fifty Canadian filmmakers traveled across Canada to introduce their films and participate in question-and-answer sessions in 2010. Guests, including Joel Bissonnette, Matt Bissonnette, Greg Calderone, Robin Cass, Damon D’Oliveira, Sturla Gunnarsson, Mark Krupa, Allie MacDonald, Corey Marr, Bruce McDonald, Michael McGowan, Dilip Mehta, Ruba Nadda, Michele Hozer, Peter Raymont, Noah Reid, John N. Smith, Jean-Marc Vallée and Clement Virgo, travelled to over thirty communities including Barrie, ON, Cobourg, ON, Port Hope, ON, Hudson, QC, and Gimli, MB.
Film Circuit arranges print traffic, provides development support, researches and prepares film titles and availability lists, offers programming consulting, books guests and ensures cross-Film Circuit communication. Films screened on Film Circuit are event-based and generally classified as "limited releases". Find out if there is a Film Circuit Location in your community and see what's playing.
