Senior Marketing Manager (Festivals & Public Programmes)

This will be an exciting year for TIFF as we present unique programming in our new home and the world's premiere centre for film, TIFF Bell Lightbox.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto's cultural history.


Reporting to the Director, Marketing, the Senior Manager will lead the strategic development and facilitate the execution of marketing plans from creation through implementation for:
• Festival Programming: TIFF Festival, Canada’s Top Ten
• Public Programmes: TIFF Kids Festival, digiPlayspace, TIFF NextWave Festival, Camps, Film Reference Library, Packaged Goods, TIFF Learning

Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy
• Execute data analysis leveraging consumer research and internal data to uncover trends and provide recommendations
• Lead creative campaign development and media planning for in-market advertising
• Build out fully integrated marketing plans that address key business issues to engage target audiences. Tactics include: print & digital collateral, branding, social media, ticketing & pricing, and community outreach
• Prepare and deliver professional documents and presentations to all levels of an organization

Relationship Management
• Present program initiatives to cross functional teams and senior leadership
• Responsible for the day to day oversight of full time and seasonal staff, including coaching, development and performance management

Administration
• Lead cross functional teams
• Oversee performance management of 1 direct report
• Manage program market lifecycles including performance tracking and analysis
• Ensure projects are achieved on time and within budget
• Provide meaningful direction on all creative development
• Build programs that result in revenue generation
• Post mortem development and analysis
• Obtain cost estimates, and negotiate with vendors to maximize budget efficiency

Start Date:  July 2013

Minimum Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing or Business preferred
• Minimum 5 years of marketing/communications experience, with a focus on strategy, planning and implementing integrated marketing communications campaign programs
• Experience with the following marketing tactics:
   o Advertising
   o Print collateral
   o Event branding
   o Direct mail
   o New media/on-line
   o Social media  
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff
• Experience working on large-scale events preferred
• Previous experience working in an arts & culture environment an asset
• Knowledge of the film industry preferred
• Creative thinker with strong internal and external marketing expertise
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Experience developing and managing budgets
• Able to work effectively and independently on multiple simultaneous tasks within a fast paced customer service oriented environment
• Proven organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated analytical ability to interpret problems and provide recommendations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills, with ability to develop contacts, ability to impact, influence and interact with various levels within the organization
• Strong negotiation skills
• Self-starter, independent and proactive
• Ability to work flexible hours as required, including some evenings and weekends
