I’m already a TIFF Member, do I need a ticket?

Yes. As admission is by timed, entry Members must have a ticket to view the exhibition, but they will not be charged. Tickets can be booked by phone at 416-599-TIFF (8433) or 1-888-599-TIFF, or in person at the Steve and Rashmi Gupta Box Office. Advance orders will be available for pick up at the Gupta Box Office. Members will be asked to show their Membership Card in order to pick up their tickets. Please arrive up to 15 minutes before your timeslot to pick up your tickets. I’m not a TIFF Member, do I need a ticket?

Yes. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone at 416-599-TIFF (8433) or 1-888-599-TIFF, or in person at the Gupta Box Office.  Please arrive up to 15 minutes before your timeslot to pick up your tickets.

Why do I have to pick a time on the day I wish to attend?

We ask that you choose a time on the day you plan to attend the exhibition to ensure that the number of visitors in the HSBC Gallery at a given time does not exceed capacity. This also helps us reduce wait times to ensure our guests have a positive viewing experience.

Can I exchange for another time once I have booked?

Yes, provided the new time you would like to attend has not sold out.

Is there a fee to exchange my ticket?

No, provided you are exchanging your time and not the date. Should you wish to change your date, a $2.50 exchange fee applies. Member exchanges are free of charge.

How long can I stay in the HSBC Gallery?

Currently there is no time limit within the HSBC Gallery hours, although if there is a lineup when you arrive, we ask that you exit the HSBC Gallery in a timely manner in order to allow others to enter.

Tickets for the final hour of entry will be limited to the scheduled closing time that day.

How long does it take to go through the HSBC Gallery?

Although you are welcome to view the exhibition at your own pace, you should be able to see the entire exhibition in approximately 60 minutes.

Do you have priority access for Members?

Yes, although immediate entry to the HSBC Gallery is based on capacity and those in line will be allowed in on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a Members’ line which will have priority access.

As a TIFF Member you not only have unlimited free access to this exhibition, you also have priority access to experience the exhibition before the public during the Member preview.

I’m a Member, how many tickets can I reserve for free?

Individual members may reserve tickets for one adult per entry time.

Dual-level members may reserve tickets for two adults and four youth per entry time.

Are there group rates available?

Yes. Please contact the box office at 416-599-8433 to enquire about group rates

Do you offer guided tours of the exhibition?

Yes. Tours run Thursdays at 6:00pm, Saturdays at 11:00am and 6:00pm and Sundays at 12:00pm. Tours are approximately 45 minutes and are free of charge.

Do children need tickets?

Children under 3 years of age do not need to purchase a ticket to the exhibition. TIFF Bell Lightbox offers a discounted ticket price for children aged 3 to 14.

Is there a recommended minimum age to view the exhibition?

The material displayed in the exhibition is suitable for children aged 13 and older. Although we will not restrict entry to children under the age of 13, some parents may find the content of the exhibition unsuitable for younger children.

Can I bring my bag, stroller, umbrella and/or coat into the HSBC Gallery?

As the exhibition is a small, dense space, we need to keep paths clear for people to get around as well as ensure the safety of the items on display. Therefore, strollers, umbrellas and bags larger than 12" x 12" x 6" deep must be checked. There is a coat check at TIFF Bell Lightbox, located to under the escalators in the Atrium. Our coat check cannot accept laptops and is not responsible for lost or damaged items that have been checked.

If your bag is smaller than 12" x 12" x 6" deep, you can bring it into the exhibition provided you carry it in front of you or under your arm. Coats may be worn but not carried inside the HSBC Gallery.

Can I exit and re-enter the exhibition?

Re-entry is not permitted. Once you have left the HSBC Gallery, you will not be allowed re-entry.

Can I take pictures or video in the exhibition?

Cameras and video equipment are not permitted in the HSBC Gallery, as our content is copyrighted material. Patrons cannot take pictures or a video recording of the exhibition.

Can I bring a sketchbook or drawing pad to the exhibition?

Yes, however we request that you use pencil to sketch in the galleries as pens leave permanent marks which could damage the items on display.

Are exhibition materials available in French?

The main didactic texts in the exhibition have been translated into French. Please ask at the ticket desk as you enter the exhibition.

Are food and drink allowed in the HSBC Gallery?

Food and drink are not allowed in the HSBC Gallery in order to protect the artworks and artifacts on display.
