Each year, Doc Blog asks film mavens to pick the TIFF non-fiction titles they're most looking forward to seeing. We'll be posting the results regularly between now and the Festival. Our first response comes from Michael Tully, editor and head writer of Hammer to Nail, where the mission is to "champion ambitious cinema in all its many different shapes and forms."

La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet (Pictured)(Frederick Wiseman, USA/France) - I have actually already seen this one but I wanted to stress just how phenomenal I think it is and urge everyone to check it out. Though I never tried too hard, I had never previously grasped the magic of ballet. Thanks to Wiseman, I now *get it*.

Colony (Carter Gunn and Ross McDonnell, Ireland) - I don't have a bee fetish, but the description of this film jumped out at me for some reason.

Genuis Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould (Peter Raymont and Michèle Hozer, ON) - I *do* have a bit of a Glenn Gould fetish, so I look forward to learning more about this bizarre, brilliant man.

Snowblind (Vikram Jayanti, USA/United Kingdom) - The description of this movie has me very intrigued. Many movies could come of it, but if it's the one that I hope it is, well, then, I guess that would be a good thing.

The Topp Twins
(Leanne Pooley, New Zealand) - New Zealand? Lesbian? Country-and-Western Singers? Yes, please!

Cordão Verde (Hiroatsu Suzuki, Rossana Torres (Portugal) - Part poem? Part documentary? Portuguese farmers? Yesser, please!
