Now this was the editing job that I wasn't looking forward, but it turned out not to be as hard as I thought it would be. The red carpet for George A. Romero's DIARY OF THE DEAD will go down as one of the wildest in not only the history of Midnight Madness, but also the Festival. Who cares about Brad and Angelina down at Roy Thompson Hall! Over at the Ryerson was a horde of zombies stumbling about like moths to a flame, all in loving tribute of their master, George Romero!
Big thanks to Thea Munster, who runs the
Toronto Zombie Walk, for wrangling all the zombies and making sure that they did leave any bits of rotting flesh on the seats.
And more thanks to Michelle Murphy who was running the red carpet and managed to zip in and around zombies and stars alike (sometimes you can't tell the difference) without getting an infectious zombie nibble.
It was truly an honour to be able to present the premiere of George's new film. Heck, I got to be on a first name basis with George A. Romero! Never thought that would happen when I rolled pennies as a kid to to buy a VHS tape of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.
