Two years ago, TIFF was proud to present the world premiere of Doug Block's remarkable 51 Birch Street, a documentary about the secrets he uncovered about his parents' marriage after his mother's death. He came back last year for a News & Views panel about the film's long road to distribution. Today the film comes out on DVD. Among the extras, I'm told, is a video of Doug's first Q&A with his father at TIFF 05, very memorable to me as I was the unsteady hand behind the camera.
